Hello mates! I hope everyone had a fantabulous Easter holiday with friends, family, food, and of course candy. I know I did. It was fun to spend the afternoon at my grandmother's house with a nice family dinner and a fun Easter egg hunt. Lots of laughs! Even though, I'm getting older, my parents got my an Easter basket. But hey! I'm not complaining! I'll take candy any time :)
But what really got me thinking was a talk I had a few days ago with a teacher. We discussed our plans for the Sunday and het old me about how his kids were looking at toys they wanted. When did Easter become another Christmas? Now, I've always gotten some kind of gift in my Easter basket--movies, clothes, books, maybe a toy or two. But while talking to a few older people, they told me the only things they would get would be candy, and most of the day would be for celebrating Jesus' resurrection. But now, like every other holiday, Easter has become commercialized. Not to say it hasn't ben before. However, I'm sad to say kids nowadays are forgetting the importance of the day. Most likely the importance of other holidays as well, for example, Christmas. Companies use these days and special occasions to suck more money from the wallets of every parent out there. It's like no one has any feelings anymore; like no one cares about spiritually important things anymore. It's depressing to think this is where we've ended up. I'm scared to think of how the future will be.
Well, I hope this didn't sadden anyone too much. Have an amazing Easter and remember the importance of this holiday, and why we celebrate!
